以下はロジャー・バートについて触れている部分の抜粋です。「昨日まではアイゴールだった」。リアルすぎる(笑)。

FRIESS: We haven’t seen who’s playing the role of Dr. Frankenstein.

BROOKS: Roger Bart.

FRIESS: I thought he was playing Igor.

BROOKS: He was Igor. Until yesterday. Christopher Fitzgerald is Igor. An enormous talent. An imp of a man. He’s only 5-2. He’s darling. And Roger has Broadway in his bones. He’s the last living Danny Kaye we have left.

FRIESS: Which is funny because most of America probably only knows him from his role in “Desperate Housewives.”

BROOKS: I know. He took over the role of Leo Bloom in “The Producers.” Oh, he’s so good. He got promoted up the ranks. He deserves it. He started as a bit thing and then he became Leo Bloom and now he’s Dr. Frankenstein.

このインタビューの中で、メル・ブルックスの口から確定の俳優として語られたのは、

ほぼ確定として語られたのは、

アンドレア・マーティン……………………フラウ・ブルッハー（博士の祖父の時代から城にいる女性）

サットン・フォスター(博士の助手・インガ）、シューラー・ヘンズリー(モンスター）については特に言及がありませんが、プレイビル、ブロードウェイワールド等の記事は、ほぼ確定と見てよいだろうとしています。

内容について触れている部分を読むと、冒頭は『プロデューサーズ』と同じく映画とだいぶ変わる模様。

'Frankenstein' to Play the Hilton; Brooks Confirms Casting

メル・ブルックスの口から確認が出ました。劇場はおそらくヒルトンに。そして、噂されていたキャストも。

ロジャー・バート、フランケンシュタイン博士です。

Brooks also confirmed the previously rumored casting of Megan Mullally as Elizabeth, Roger Bart as Dr. Frankenstein and Christopher Fitzgerald as Igor.  He says that he's "pretty sure" Andrea Martin will play the role of Frau Blucher.

BROOKS DIGS ROGER BART FOR 'FRANKENSTEIN'

リークの王様、マイケル・リーデルさんの記事。手に取るように想像できる経緯を相変わらず見てきたように書いてくれています。とりあえず、The Tony-nominated actorではなく、The Tony-winnerです。そもそも去年の相当早い時期に「博士役はロジャー・バートだと信頼すべき筋に聞いた」と書いたのもリーデルさん。

2006年6月16日付。一つ前のコラムで「キャスティング案求む」と書いたら、たくさんメールが来た、という話から、いろいろな役にいろいろな役者の名前が並び、博士の話で三人並んで名前が出た後、唐突に、何の前振りもなく、

「信頼すべき筋からの情報では、ブルックスのthe good doctorチョイスは、ロジャー・バート」

の一行が。

ナンバーについて、メル・ブルックスが語る

メル・ブルックスが、去年、恐らく"Young Frankenstein"の テーブル・リーディングが終了した直後の頃、カリフォルニアのLa Jolla Playhouseで上演された"The Wiz"のパンフレットで語ったインタビュー記事を掲示板にアップしてくれた人がいる。

Brooks on Broadway Q&A with “The Producer” himself.

When he (Doctor) meets Igor at the train station, instead of them just doing a joke or two, they will do a song together called "Together Again for the First Time," because their grandfathers worked together and now they'll be working together, but for the first time. It's kind of a crazy vaudeville number.

トランシルバニア駅で、ドクターとアイゴールが初めて出会う……そのシーンの歌は、超ボードビルなナンバーらしいっ！

Q. Will people will walk out of the theater humming these songs?

A. Oh, yes. I write very tuneful melodies, but I don't know if they're going to remember [the words]. The words are going to be very crazy and complicated.

メル・ブルックス自身が"The words are going to be very crazy and complicated."と言うのだから、歌詞を期待せずにはいられない。

観客は最高の批評家にも最低の風評加害者にもなるけれど、メル・ブルックスは芝居を見たばかりの観客に「金払う価値あった？」と聞くのが好きらしい。

I always ask one basic question to the audience, "Was it worth the ticket price or do you want your money back?" Normally, 99 percent of the time they say, "No, no, it was good, it was worth it, just for that one number, the Igor number or the monsters singing 'Puttin' on the Ritz: it was worth it just for that."
